South Africa is a top safari destination with a mix of traditional safari activities, modern developed cities and activities that can be combined to make a wide diversity of trips to suit all interests.
International flights into Johannesburg and internal connecting flights are plentiful and convenient. It is also the gateway to other southern African destinations so it can often be combined with somewhere else quite easily, for example Victoria Falls, Botswana, Mozambique or Namibia. For those coming from the Northern hemisphere it is a long way to travel compared with East Africa – so that’s something to bear in mind.
The climate is dryer than the more tropical East African region and has a marked seasonal difference between winter and summer.
The East and West coasts have different climates depending on which ocean they are washed by. While Cape Town in the west might be cold, grey and stormy, Durban in the east may be hot and ideal for a beach holiday.
Kruger National park: the largest and oldest game reserve in South Africa- world renowned for its diversity and density of wildlife. The park encompasses a variety of landscapes and ecosystems.

Table Mountain the iconic mountain top is easily reached by cableway enjoy stunning bird’s eye views of Robbin Island, the city of Cape town and the Atlantic seaboard.

Stellenbosh The city of Oaks- an charming, historical town renowned for its vineyards and world famous wines, Stellenbosh sits on the banks of the fertile Eerste River encircled by picturesque mountains.

SOUTH AFRICA HIGHLIGHTS
After breakfast take local 1 hour light aircraft flight directly into the Sabi Sands reserve. Sabi Sands rightly has the reputation as one of the foremost African wildlife destinations. With its neighboring reserves it is large enough sustain an intact eco-system but small enough to be well managed and be able to offer you a full range of safari experiences.
Named after the old goldrush days Selati Camp has a colonial safari camp feel but with modern 5 Star service.

Choose your activity- game driving in an open-topped safari vehicle with a guide who has an intimate knowledge of the area or an early morning walk with your guide- whose outstanding knowledge will bring the bush to life for you.

Fly to Nelspruit airport driven to Pafuri in the northern part of Kruger national Park. Spend the next couple of days exploring on foot approx. 10km or 4 hours. You begin to feel at one with the environment around you. Your guide stopping regularly to help you become immersed in the wilderness. In the afternoon arrive at Pafui lightweight luxury camp- walk-in tents, camp beds, bucket showers, a camp fire and wholesome camp food.

By spending time walking you will really begin to feel the rhythms of nature around you and gain a deeper understanding of the African bush.

Depart Nelspruit airport for a flight to Cape Town. Spend the afternoon enjoying the views, ambience and dining at the Victoria and Alfred Docks- the cosmopolitan heart of Cape Town

After breakfast take a 20min ride to Table Mountain where you can choose to walk up and down or take the cable car one (or both ways). Enjoy the views from the top of the Cape of Good Hope and Houts Bay and the unique Cape vegetation. Afterwards relax at your hotel before exploring the dining opportunities in the Malay quarter known as Bo-Kaap.

Today’s tour takes you through the gorgeous wine growing region of Stellenbosch- visiting some of the famous vineyards to sample delicious sherries, ports, brandies, whites and reds produced by the country’s finest winemakers.

This moving historical sight a few miles out to sea was the site of Nelson Mandela’s incarceration for many years. Witnessing the grim cells and hopeless isolation will impress on you the magnificence of this great man.
