Sample Itinerary

Fly into Kilimanjaro Airport near Arusha where we are waiting personally to pick you up to take you to Mount Meru Game Lodge for the night.

Day 1

  • Departure after breakfast with a picnic lunch to Tarangire National Park where you are driven through rugged Baobab country and riverine terrain.
  • Arrive at Oliver's Camp late in the afternoon.
  • Oliver's Camp has been established as a luxury Mobile Camp since 1993 and is sited in a remote wilderness location.
  • The incredible diversity of bird life in this Park is well known, as are the elephants and wildlife including lion, leopard and python that congregate around the Silale swamp.

Day 2

  • Rise early for a professionally led walking safari and enjoy a well-earned bush breakfast.
  • You can decide whether to continue further or return to camp to relax.

Day 3

  • Today you drive through Maasai Country en-route to the Ngorogoro Crater, glimpse Lake Manyara, marvel at the Rift Valley and Crater highlands before ascending the Crater Rim.
  • After check in and lunch at The Crater Lodge you spend the afternoon game driving on the Crater Floor.
  • Return to the lodge for a spectacular sundowner before dinner.

Day 4

  • Breakfast followed by a morning game drive on the Crater Floor.
  • A Picnic lunch is provided for your journey through the Serengeti on your way to the Olakira Luxury Camp.

Day 5 & 6

  • Spend the next two days in this beautiful wilderness camp exploring the beauty of the Serengeti.

Day 7, 8 & 9

  • Today you depart, via light aircraft, for Mahale Mountains National Park landing at the airstrip on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
  • It will take an hour or so by boat to reach the exotic Greystoke Camp.
  • You have 3 days to enjoy the delights of Mahale.
  • Observe the famous M group, the chimpanzee originally habituated by Japanese researchers.
  • Hike in the forest with the chance of sighting the elusive blue dyker.
  • Kayak, snorkel, fish or simply soak up the sun on the beach.

Day 10, 11 & 12

  • Morning flight to Katavi, with a short game drive en-route for lunch at Chada Permanent Tented Camp, your home for 3 days.
  • This is savannah country like it used to be with huge herds of buffalo, crocodile and hippopotamus fighting for space in the river.
  • Fly camping and walking safaris are a specialty of this camp.

Day 13

  • Fly back to Arusha over the plains of Western Tanzania, the Rift Valley, the Ngorogoro Highlands and back to Arusha to stay at Mount Meru Game Lodge.

Day 14

  • You can spend the day relaxing or looking around the town of Arusha and its vicinity.
  • We can arrange a number of different things to do from here... shopping, snake park, camel rides, short forest walks, local food or visit a village.
  • You can then have a meal, finish packing and prepare for your flight and we will take you to the airport and say goodbye and “Safari Njema”.
